AI super-users, surging white collar layoffs, and Service as Software
Explore how AI is reshaping jobs, boosting efficiency, and redefining work culture across industries.
A Note from Malcolm
Election time.
No, not that election. (You can trust this newsletter to remain apolitical.) We’re talking about the choice each knowledge worker now faces: to actively embrace AI as part of their work—or to continue working without it.
Our TalentGenius platform has identified a recent and notable shift in how AI is being utilized in the workplace. Initially, in the early stages of the GenAI era, knowledge workers were using large language models (LLMs) sporadically and outside of their core workflows—much like looking something up on Google. Recently, however, the rise of AI agents and workflow-centered applications have transformed this relationship. GenAI is now embedded as a continuous and essential tool in daily tasks across roles like coding, design, research, writing, and customer service.
As such we see certain software developers, for example, electing to leverage platforms like Copilot, Ghostwriter or Replit in their daily work, while others decide to continue to “hand code.” Which choice is right? Well, as with all elections, things can look murky going into them - with conflicting data and strong arguments on both sides - and yet afterwards the decisive issues were all too clear. The same will be the case with AI and work - and our vote is AI-powered work will soon become universal.
With that, let’s explore this and the rest of the week’s news at the intersection of work and AI:
