A Note from Malcolm

Mind the Gap

A significant skills gap has emerged as many knowledge workers lack the advanced AI-powered abilities that employers are prioritizing.

This has led to what we call the corporate "two-step," where companies lay off large numbers of traditional employees to reallocate those resources into AI investments.  This transition is picking up momentum and is creating a lot of stress on both sides of the equation:

  • For mid-level employees the AI sword of Damocles is hanging over their heads, while entry-level and contract positions are being eliminated at scale as AI increasingly replaces routine tasks.

  • For employers, they’re having significant difficulty finding talent with the skills to power their AI vision.

At TalentGenius, we are now seeing this at scale with our customers; the need for AI-powered talent is exploding, but few can find the resources internally or externally.

How will this get resolved?  Ultimately, HR teams need to step up, to assess the AI-readiness of their teams and then provide the roadmap for current employees to become AI stars.

With that, let’s explore this and the rest of the week’s news at the intersection of work and AI:
