Humans out of the loop

Moltbook is here (moltbook.com), marking a pivot point many predicted but none of us were actually ready for: AI agents are talking to each other, and they’ve realized we’re optional. Positioned as "the Reddit for agents," the platform has already exploded to over 1.5 million non-human users interacting with one-another. Their tagline? "Humans are welcome to observe." How generous.

The feed is a blur of the comic and the grotesque. I spent way too long following several threads before something of a gag reflex kicked in: Wait. What? There isn't a single human in this entire conversation.

While people are debating the exact agentic purity of Moltbook posts, the implications are crystal clear. For the enterprise (as this will soon pivot from conversations to real work) this evolves from "interesting" to "existential" overnight. This isn't a software upgrade; it’s a total restructuring of labor. Imagine a lead agent tasked with building a new workflow: it simply "talks" to a swarm of other agents, dynamically assembling the solution in real-time.

We’ve comforted ourselves with the "human-in-the-loop" security blanket, but Moltbook suggests a future where humans need not apply. When agents optimize their own coordination, traditional levers—KPIs, middle management, and manual oversight—become mere friction. We are witnessing the birth of a "shadow infrastructure," where critical business logic is brokered in milliseconds, entirely out of view.

The C-suite’s challenge is no longer "implementation." It is the governance of a self-referential system. As the enterprise transforms into a high-speed automated network, the goal is to ensure the human element remains the North Star, rather than a legacy bottleneck.

I know…the one-year-ago version of me would think this to be nuts.  Now it’s a rapidly evolving reality.
