OpenAI makes its move up the corporate stack
OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a living company library. If it works, it could become the new interface between humans and corporate knowledge.

OpenAI makes its move up the corporate stack
OpenAI is quietly trying to turn the enterprise into a new kind of library, one that listens. With “company knowledge,” ChatGPT can now crawl your Slack, SharePoint, Google Drive and GitHub to answer questions as if it had spent a year shadowing every analyst and manager in the firm. The result is eerie and simple: the institutional memory that used to live in people’s heads and dusty folders can now be queried in seconds.
If this works at scale OpenAI suddenly occupies a perch more valuable than any CRM or ERP: the thin strip between a human and the company’s collective insight.
The company has been doubling down on its enterprise play, with partnerships and platform deals that aim to make ChatGPT the operating layer for work. Salesforce, SAP and other software incumbents are racing to embed and prove their relevance inside that same interface; the question is whether they arrive as gatekeepers or hitchhikers.
With the combination of its new browser, enterprise system integrations, and core model upgrades, OpenAI isn’t just adding features. It’s trying to sit at the most strategic chair in the room. If it does, the business map changes.
